First of all, let me state that it isn't often we include payed for Audio Drama on this page but there are certain exceptions to the general rule.  Primarily the criterion for having a paid for show listed here is that it should have appeared on our show when we were broadcast live.

Such is the case with 'The minster of Chance'.  Dan and the team behind this excellent Audio Drama were good enough to let us air 'The Minister of Chance' when it was first made, making it, I believe, the highest budget series we ever aired.  The cast themselves are among some of the stalwarts of British TV and Film and includes one of my childhood and indeed life long acting heroine's, Jenny Agutter among a host of other big names.  I had aimed high when approaching Dan about this and was genuinely surprised when he was kind enough to say yes!

Anyway, you can purchase the entire series as one Audio Movie from Amazon for £7.99
OR on iTunes for £4.95

Winner of Best Audio Drama, BBC Audio Drama Awards, 2013. Winner of Speculative Fiction, Parsec Award, 2013. The Minister of Chance is a wildly exciting, picaresque fantasy adventure and a brilliant, Swiftian satire on politics and religion. It boasts Hollywood production values, an orchestral score and a staggeringly accomplished cast: Jenny Agutter, Jed Brophy, Lauren Crace, Paul Darrow, Philip Glenister, Tamsin Greig, Sylvester McCoy, Paul McGann, and the beautifully inflected Julian Wadham as the titular minister. Originally made on an overdraft, the remaining episodes were funded by fans who turned this groundbreaking radiophonic masterpiece into a multiaward-winning cult phenomenon. A world not our own: Ambassador Durian of the technologically advanced nation of Sezuan is sent to talk peace with the King of the medieval backwater nation of Tanto. However, the King rebuffs Durian's overtures of friendship, and things take a turn for the very, very sinister. At a nearby inn, barmaid Kitty's routine of fighting, abusing customers, and avoiding personal hygiene is disrupted by the arrival of a cloaked stranger. Her routine is further disrupted when she follows him into the forest, through a ghostly doorway, over the frost bridge between worlds, and into an adventure encompassing invasions, machiavellian political scheming and conversations with frog gods at the entrance to the Underworld. Put on your headphones, and spend your next commute in another world. You won't want to leave.
