Dialed In

"Dialed In is an audio drama anthology created with the premise that the audience is listening in on a series of phone calls. The shows were recorded with a worldwide cast featuring talents from New York, Minnesota, D.C., Connecticut, London and Belgium." - Aural Stage Studios

Dialed in is an anthology series of short audio drama's – most under 15 minutes long – from 'Aural Stage' Studios. The premise of the series is based upon the idea of the listener eavesdropping a telephone conversation between the protagonists.

As you would expect for Aural Studios the writing, sound quality and editing as well as the acting in all the episodes is excellent. What is more the stories are wryly amusing for the most part and well worth listening to. The episodes 'Wish you were here' and 'Customer Relations' are darker and less amusing having at there core a serious theme. 'Wish you were here' is especially poignant and will resonate with a great many of us. IT, along with songs like 'Cats in the cradle' should be compulsory listening as they both remind us of a very important truth that we often forget and when we do it leaves us with determinant regrets.

Episodes I particularly enjoyed include 'Shooting the Bull', 'Wish you were here', 'Customer Relations' and my personal favourite of the series 'Ancient Evil'.

I wanted to like 'Jesus gets rejected' but wasn't as keen on it as I wanted to be – don't let this put you off though – it just didn't gell with my sense of humour as much as 'Shooting the Bull' or 'Ancient Evil'. For an awful lot of you it will be right up your street and you may even prefer it to my favourites.
